PERSONNEL
ArcSine
Engineering was founded in 1978 as Electrical and Control System
Engineering.
The firm subsequently expanded the scope of
engineering services that it offers, and in 2004
began doing business as ArcSine Engineering.
John Salas, Registered
Engineer
Supervises and reviews
projects. Designs power distribution systems, instrumentation and
control systems, and feedback control systems. Before founding ArcSine Engineering in 1978, was electrical department manager for 5
years at CH2M HILL in Redding and for 11 years was electrical project
engineer for NASA-Ames Research Center at Moffett Field, California.
Began his career with Westinghouse Electric Corporation as a field
engineer.
Received an electrical engineering degree from the
University of California, Berkeley, and completed post-graduate courses
at the University of Santa Clara, California, San Jose State,
California, and University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Registered in California and
Oregon as professional electrical engineer, and also
registered as professional control systems engineer in California.
Doug McHaney, Registered
Engineer
Manages the firm and designs power distribution
systems and instrumentation and control systems. Worked for ArcSine in
1982 and returned in 1988. Worked for Varian Associates for 4 years,
then as an independent consultant in marketing, design, and field
service for computer-controlled products. Received an electrical
engineering degree from the University of California, Davis, and an MBA
from the University of California, Berkeley. Registered in California,
Oregon, Idaho, Arizona, and Washington as professional electrical engineer.
Ted Miller, Registered Engineer
Responsible for design and management of power
distribution systems and instrumentation and control systems.
Experienced in planning, design, and construction of industrial and
municipal facilities, research installations, and other buildings and
institutions. Prior to joining ArcSine in 1986, worked 5 years with
Phillips Petroleum in design and construction of a Texas oil refinery,
and as a construction engineer on North Sea oil platforms. Received an
electrical engineering degree from Iowa State University at Ames.
Registered in California as professional electrical engineer.
Vern McHaney, Registered
Engineer
Performs control system design and
fieldwork. Joined ArcSine in 2001 following over 45 years experience in
instrumentation and control, chemical, and field engineering. Received a
chemical engineering degree from Michigan State University, a master's
degree in chemical engineering from the University of Illinois-Urbana,
and an MBA from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. Registered
in California as a professional chemical engineer, and professional
control systems engineer.
Robert Kellett,
Registered Engineer
Performs mechanical
engineering design and analysis on HVAC, water, gas, and wastewater
systems for multi-unit residential and industrial buildings. Prior
to joining ArcSine in 2004, managed the technical, budget, and
schedule aspects of Department of Defense infrared and radar counter
measures programs. Supervised design engineers, technicians, and the
document control department. Received a Bachelor of Science and a
Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from San Jose
State University. Registered in California, Oregon, and Nevada as a professional mechanical
engineer.
Roland
Caulkins, Senior Field Engineer
Roland
joined ArcSine in August 2001.
His experience encompasses personnel management, project
management, safety management, electrical design, system controls and
integration, estimating, and purchasing.
In addition, Roland is a Journeyman Wireman with 12 years'
experience.
He is an expert at fieldwork on medium- and high-voltage power
distribution; underground power distribution; high-, medium-, and
low-voltage switchgear installation; hazardous locations; for facilities
at both commercial and industrial installations including 120-12kV
secondary distribution substations.
Dick Suber, Field Engineer
Performs field engineering on
low-, medium-, and high-voltage power distribution and motor control.
In addition, duties include facility startup, inspection, and
troubleshooting. Licensed Electrical Contractor, State of California.
Certificate, PLC Programming, Walnut Creek, California. Joined ArcSine in 2008.
Michael Suber, Field
Engineer
Designs electrical power
and lighting distribution, low-voltage switchgear, and parcel
configuration. Performs field investigation, construction
observation, startup, and coordination of commercial, residential,
and photovoltaic systems. Certified Journeyman Electrician
(California). Leviton Fiber and Copper Data Certification. Joined ArcSine in 2006.
Stephen Stewart, Senior Programmer
Performs programming for municipal,
industrial, and research facilities. Joined ArcSine in 2005. Stephen
has over 25 years experience in equipment and process design,
construction, refinement, and maintenance. He is skilled and
experienced with Modicon, G.E., and Allen-Bradley PLC's, as well as
various SCADA systems including InTouch and Wonderware.
Michael Costa, Programmer
Designs and programs PLC's and HMI's
for SCADA systems. Joined ArcSine in 2007. Is proficient at
structured programming. Is knowledgeable on industry trends and
evolving standards (defacto and published)) for personal computer
devices and network interfaces. Performs detailed design and
checking. Background includes several years of college
coursework in computers, business math, marketing, and
communications.
Paul Antone, Programmer
Designs, programs, and tests PLC's and HMI's
for SCADA systems. Performs detailed design and checking. Joined
ArcSine in 2007. Received Bachelor of Science degree in
Electrical/Electronic Engineering from California State University
Chico, Chico, California.
Cary Moore, Senior Designer
Performs design work as well as checkout and startup
of new facilities. Is proficient in both indoor and outdoor lighting
design. Experienced in municipal facilities, commercial and industrial
buildings, schools, medical facilities, and churches. Joined ArcSine in
1986 after working as a Motorola communications installer and repairman.
Completed introductory electrical engineering coursework at California
State University, San Luis Obispo.
Brian Reid, Senior Designer
Performs detailed design and checking.
Experienced at field testing and startup of municipal facilities. Assists with field
investigations. Skilled at use of software tools such as spreadsheets
and databases. Before joining ArcSine in January 2000, owned satellite
systems business for 5 years. Attended Shasta College 1983 to 1985.
Ed Phillips, Senior
Designer
Designs power distribution, lighting,
and other systems for buildings and site infrastructure. Is proficient in both AUTOCAD and Microstation. Joined
ArcSine in 1989 after
receiving Associate Specialized Degree in electro/mechanical CAD
drafting from Bay Valley Technical Institute in Santa Clara, California.
Nick Akimoff, Designer
Performs electrical design
and checking tasks for commercial and multifamily residential
projects. Certified commercial pilot
(single/multi-engine/instrument-rated), FAA-certified mechanic
(airframe/powerplant), and emergency medical technician (EMT).
Joined ArcSine in 2004.
Katrina Ericson,
Lighting Designer
Performs both indoor and
outdoor lighting design for municipal facilities, commercial and
industrial buildings, schools, medical facilities, and churches, as
well as producing energy compliance documentation. Joined ArcSine in
2007.
Christopher Heidl, Staff Engineer
Performs electrical and
plumbing design for multi-family residential units and commercial
buildings, including Title 24 energy compliance
documentation. In addition, works with electrical engineers
performing electrical, power distribution, lighting design, and
utility site coordination. Joined ArcSine in
2005. Received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical
Engineering from California State University, Chico.
Michael Berg, Staff
Engineer
Performs engineering work
for power distribution systems, lighting systems, and
instrumentation and controls for private and municipal facilities.
Also performs field work including on-site surveys, installation,
and troubleshooting. Received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from
San Jose State University, San Jose, California. Joined ArcSine in
2008.
Ryan Oliver, Drafting
Performs CAD drafting. Joined
ArcSine in 1995
following 5 years of experience performing electrical and mechanical
drafting for manufacturing and engineering concerns. Received Associate
Specialized Degree in electro/mechanical CAD drafting from Bay Valley
Technical Institute in Santa Clara, California.
Adan Martinez, Drafting
Performs electrical and
mechanical CAD drafting. Joined ArcSine in 2005.
Noah Pollard, Drafting
Peforms electrical and
mechanical systems CAD drafting in ArcSine's Ashland, Oregon,
office. Joined ArcSine in 2007 after 9 years of professional
drafting experience in Michigan. Attended Lawrence Technical
University in Michigan for 3 years studying architectural drafting.
Aaron Anderson,
Technician
Performs design for
multi-family residential units including power distribution,
lighting design, and Title 24 energy compliance documentation, as
well as utility coordination. Joined ArcSine in 2007.
Penny
Garrett, Office Services Manager
Responsible
for all secretarial/clerical functions at ArcSine.
In addition, performs marketing and administrative duties.
Joined ArcSine in September 2000 following 34 years of experience
in word processing management, administrative management, and marketing
and sales.
Scott Philben, Chief Financial
Officer
Joined ArcSine in 1999 following 25 years of
successful accounting and management assignments, including controller
of a $40M advertising and consulting firm. Received a Bachelor of
Science degree in Business Administration from the University of
Nebraska, Lincoln.
