The Ames TP3 heater is an Arc heater which was relocated fro...read more »m Johnson Space Center, Houston, Texas to the Arc Jet complex, Aerodynamic Heating Facility (AHF) test bay at Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, California. This facility has been the R&D testing facility for tiles which have been used on space re-entry vehicles (shuttle).
ArcSine Engineering designed power distribution, motor controls, and hardwired safety relay logic for the Argon, nitrogen, oxygen, and CO2 gas systems, ventilation and exhaust systems of the test bay, test chamber, and basement area. ArcSine also performed all associated programming of the PLC and HMI screen development. « read less
NASA-Ames Research Center - Arc Jet Rectifier RM2B Modification Job 1401.00
The Arc Jet facility rectifier system serves as the power su...read more »pply for the 60-MW DC voltage supplied to one of the Arc Jet wind tunnels at Ames Research Center. The present 6-module rectifier system was design and implemented in 2000 and since that time, one of the modules for the rectifier system was burned, and the Arc Jet facility has operated at less than full capacity. This project was to determine the rough order of magnitude (ROM) estimate for the modification of the Arc jet rectifier system to bring it back to the full design capacity. « read less
