Photovoltaic panels were installed as roof canopies over the main ticket center, and over three satellite bus stops. The panels were custom designed and fabricated using photovoltaic cells laminated between glass sheets. The individual cells were arranged in a geometric pattern allowing natural light to pass between the cells. This was a high-profile demonstration project for the City of Chico, intended to raise awareness of alternative energy solutions. While the project was of modest electrical capacity, it incorporated challenging issues usually found on much larger projects. « read less
